How to Film your Swing1. Set Up Your CameraMost ordinary digital cameras can take videos. Refer to your camera manual to select VIDEO mode. If available on your camera, also select ACTION or SPORTS mode. 2. Film Your SwingYou will film three views of your swing: Grip view, Face-on view and Downthe- Line view. Each video should be 3 to 5 seconds in length. ![]() Grip ViewKneel across from the golfer and film a close-up of his hands as he addresses the ball. For the first 1-2 seconds the golfer should have both hands on the club grip. Then, as you are shooting, have him remove his lower hand from the grip to film an unobstructed view of the upper hand. ![]() Face-On ViewStand across from the golfer, looking at him face-to-face, and directly in line with the ball. Stand just far enough away to capture the ball, the golfer and the club all the way through the swing (typically about 5 paces). Press the shutter to start filming just before he starts his backswing. Press the shutter again to end filming just after he finishes the swing. ![]() Down-The-Line ViewFinally, stand directly behind the golfer, just far enough away to capture the ball, the golfer and the club all the way through the swing. Like the Face-on view, start filming just before he starts the backswing, and end filming just after he completes the swing. NOTE: On the Down-the-Line video, it's very important to position the camera IN LINE WITH THE GOLFER'S HANDS as he addresses the ball. The camera should be between his feet and the ball, NOT directly behind the ball. Top of Page ![]() How to Upload1. Save Your Swing VideosAfter filming your swing, save the videos on your computer following the instructions in your camera's users manual. (Normally, this is exactly the same as saving still pictures.) We suggest that you create a new folder on your desktop called SwingStarGolf, and save your videos there. Then rename your videos as GRIP, FACE-ON and DTL (Down-the-Line). NOTE: Although it isn't required, we suggest you include your last name and a date in the file name. This will make it easy for you - and us - to keep track of your swing videos for future lessons. Also, make sure you don't delete the file extension (e.g., .mov or .mpg) that is added automatically by your camera. Here is a sample filename: 2. Upload your swing VideosLogon at swingstargolf.com using your username and password. (If you are not already a member, it just takes a minute on the website. And it's free.) From the member area, click "Upload Swing Videos". At Step 1 type in a name for your new lesson. We recommend using your name and the date to make it easy to track your lessons and progress. NOTE: You can upload and view your swing as often as you like, at no charge. You are not required to actually take a lesson. At Step 2, select the Grip View browse button, navigate to the SwingStarGolf folder on your computer, and select your Grip video. Repeat the Browse and Select process for your Face-on and Down-the-Line videos. At Step 3, click the Upload button and wait for confirmation that the video upload process has completed. Depending on the speed of your connection, this should take only a couple of minutes. Questions?
